Francia (Settembre 2024)
Toulouse, Francia, 16-20 settembre 2024
As planned in the project, on Saturday the 14th, the French group welcomed their counterparts by the Garonne River for an ice-breaker activity and introduced them to their country and city.
On Sunday, they visited Albi, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Through a photo rally, the students had the chance to explore this historic place. Built after the Cathar Wars, it symbolizes the importance of peace and reconstruction after periods of division. These aspects highlight the value of social cohesion and living together, essential principles for any European citizen today.
On Monday, after visiting the Maison de l'Europe exhibition “The EU: Why and How,” they worked on creating a digital quiz on the European Union. The students drafted questions and answers on the historical development, goals, and institutions of the EU, which were then incorporated into an interactive knowledge game (Kahoot). Later, they visited the Capitole, Toulouse’s city hall. During this visit, the students reflected on how citizens participate in local decision-making processes and learned how Toulouse’s history has contributed to democratic values.
On Tuesday, a journalism workshop on citizenship took place. Acting as journalists, the students researched information and wrote articles on European values, as well as on the rights and responsibilities of European citizens. They visited official EU sites and also created digital avatars. They participated in the activity “Learning to Recognize Fake News” on the internet, listing methods to detect misinformation and creating a practical poster. In the afternoon, they visited the student association "Europa Toulouse," which promotes European values.
On Wednesday, a visit to the medieval city of Carcassonne as part of an Erasmus project provided valuable insights into European values, particularly those related to shared history, heritage preservation, and unity in diversity.
On Thursday, the visit to Aeroscopia showcased the European dimension of Toulouse in the field of aeronautics, perfectly illustrating the spirit of cooperation and innovation at the heart of the European project. Toulouse, often called the "European capital of aeronautics," is home to numerous international companies and initiatives, including Airbus.
The week concluded with a diploma ceremony.
