Grecia (Marzo 2024)
Kalamata, Grecia, 12-16 marzo 2024
The first in-person mobility for students and teachers took place in Kalamata, Greece, hosted by the 3o Geniko Lykeio Kalamatas. This first in-person meeting represents the culmination of collaborative work begun remotely in October 2023 through the use of digital tools such as the eTwinning platform.
The planned activities included:
Ice-breaking and team-building activities.
This was combined with a historical workshop, resulting in a Padlet created by the students. Preparation of a schedule and adherence to calendar obligations for the participating schools.Visits to local government bodies and observation of how democratic decisions are made, as well as visits to youth communities actively involved in the social, economic, and political life of the area.
European mission "100 European Carbon-Neutral Cities" - example of Kalamata, with insights from the relevant authorities - city participation and citizen actions.
The goal of the mobility was to observe firsthand how decisions are made by school communities, local self-governing institutions, and youth communities in each country to highlight good practices.
The visit to Kalamata provided participants with an opportunity to learn about the European mission of 100 carbon-neutral cities, in which the city participates. They were able to gain empirical knowledge about the actions implemented by the city to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, a goal also set by the EU.
All preferred planned activities were carried out.
Additionally, all groups visited a folk dance center, learned the history of traditional Greek dances, and learned to perform them. The Greek team also prepared additional activities on Italian and French civilizations. Teachers and students presented a timeline of the southern Italian regions and the Greek dialect spoken in that area of Italy. Greek songs and tarantella dances were also presented by Greek students.
The teams participated in the celebration of the French language organized by the Kalamata Music School. The show focused on the life and work of great French poets and how their work influenced renowned Greek composers. The host school offered these additional activities to strengthen the bonds between the countries, highlight shared similarities, and emphasize the common civilization shared by European countries.
